St. John's Chapter Rules the Sheet!

A crack team of curlers representing St. John's Chapter No. 148 took to the ice on February 7th and showed those in Districts 12 and 13 just how it should be done. In what was termed as a "friendly tournament", which was purported to be "a lot of fun", the rink skipped by John Moor handily "took the Cup". Other members included lead Andrew Ciastek, 2nd Bob Humble and 3rd Lowell Blaney.

Eight teams participated, four from District 13, three from District 12, and one from Quebec. The Grand Superintendents of both Districts loaned their support, Andrew Graham learning just how strenuous curling can be, and Dave Lyon keeping score.

A hearty "thank you" goes out to the organizing committee, under the auspices of the Principals' Association, Ken Sharp organizing the prizes, Barry Birchall handling the money, Dave Lyon manning the computers and John Moor chairing the group. "The planning and organizing takes only a few minutes," notes Chairman Moor, "as we have the whole affair pretty well worked out. It's the endless socializing that takes up the time."

Companions are reminded that the annual Bonspeil will take place again on the first Saturday of February, 2010, at the Almonte Curling Club. Get your teams ready.
